Sourcing his material freely, Richard is mimicking the traditional role of artist as recorder of experience with an interest in the repetitive nature of labour, landscape, what lies under the surface, place/situation, luck and visual association – he creates layered cartographies more akin to contour maps than simple depictions. His work spans painting, writing and installation.
