Although I am by training and profession an academic working on early modern literature and digital technology, photography has been a life-long pursuit. I started with my parents’ old battered film camera, moved on to digital point-and-shoots and from there to more advanced digital DSLRs. Now, I’ve come full circle, getting back into film photography, appreciating its tactile quality, the near magical chemical processes necessary to bring a latent image to life, and embracing the inherent uncertainty of the final result. I shoot mostly street scenes, and I’m interested in the threshold between private and public, deep shadow and light, and the patterns and decay of the human-made world.
