日本の政治は戦後からほとんど変わらずにここまでやってきた。何度も何度も失敗をし、歴史修正やレイシズムに加担することでさえも。そうしたものにピリオドを打つこと、同時に我々が見過ごしがちな日々毎日の暮らしという繰り返すものへフォーカスすること。アイデンティティや文脈を持ったものたちに目を向け、消費だけでないカルチャーの捉え方をまなざすこと。複合的な事物の編纂が「over and over」です。
Identity, politics, queer… Based in Taiwan and Japan, respectively, this is a magazine that gathers the small voices in this dark dystopian world and brings about “change” in our own generation.
Japanese politics has come this far without much change since the end of World War II. It has failed over and over again, even in its complicity with historical revision and racism. The magazine is a call to put an end to this, and at the same time focus on what we tend to overlook, the repetition of day-to-day life. To look at things that have an identity and a context, and to learn how to understand culture beyond just consumption. Over and over” is a compilation of composite objects.
Issue 02 explores East Asia and Narrative. East Asia” and ‘Asia’ are widely recognized in terms of culture, including food, fashion, cosmetics, and music, and we can sometimes catch glimpses of solidarity that transcends nationality and race. However, can we really “stand in solidarity” in the face of the unalterable facts of history? The voices of people living within the Asian narrative, and the choices that have been made, choices that have not been made, and choices that have been erased within the historical narrative. In this magazine, we ask the question, “What is East Asia?
